Guest Room Makeover

We have been in full makeover mode over here at the #moltenmodpod and surprisingly one of our very first rooms to get finished is the guest room. Big thanks to Serena and Lily for sponsoring this post and helping so much to pull this room together with the most luxurious bedding and bath products. Now is the time to stock up ya'll with their sleep well event-all of their gorgeous bedding and beds are 30% off! Just in time to get ready for those holiday guests. Here are some of my favorites...

Now let's get to the before photos. We had our hands full when we bought this house. We knew it and actually loved the opportunity to make it our own. It had great bones which was important to us and had been taken care of immaculately. A little paint and some new floors can go a long way!

And the after! So happy with how this sweet little space turned out. I know you guys are going to ask about the paint so I'll go ahead and let you know it's Chantilly Lace flat on the walls and satin on the doors and trim. The window is Iron Ore in a flat-I know that's going against the rules but I wanted no sheen. I wrote an entire blog post on my paint guide you can read it here.

We already owned the full mattress and box spring so we thought why not put it to good use! I knew I wanted a really simple linen upholstered headboard-something about them is so cozy, comfortable and relaxed to me and I want our guests to feel that way when they stay at our home. I will say for such a great price this headboard looks amazing!

The nightstands were another budget friendly find. I loved the cane front accents mixed with the mid-century modern legs-so fun! The lamps are some I use often for clients in white but to stick with the mod pod palette we chose the black. I like the contrast they provide against the white walls as well.

A very important element in this room is the ceiling fan-we love ceiling fans in the south and especially in our bedrooms. I always use white because I like them to blend right into the ceiling. This is one of my favorites I've ever used-it's quiet, modern and effective! the most air flow comes out of this little guy.

The art is an original by Chelsea Goer-we are so fortunate to have this piece available on our shop in a paper print or giclee option. It comes in many sizes to suit your space and this is the 24x24 size which fits perfectly over a full size bed.

The rug is vintage Turkish from Cord & Cotton-they have such a great selection and good prices! We used to have this one in our office but moved it here after I saw the palette starting to come together. It just worked so perfectly and I like the darker tones to give some contrast. We just added some new vintage Turkish rugs to the shop so be sure and check those out too!

The chest was an old vintage mid-century modern piece we found at Indigo Market. It was originally brown but I had it lacquered Tricorn Black. If you have a painter that can paint cabinets-he could probably lacquer furniture for you too! It's pretty much the same process. It made a world of difference and it paired so well with the Serena & Lily Ojai Mirror in Black. I love the mix of old and new here paired with all of our fun accessories from the shop.

The linen panels were a score from Amazon! I had never tried ordering my white linen panels from Amazon so this was a first and I was so impressed. They are lined and weighted at the bottom so they fell really nicely. I always like a little 2" drag to give a more relaxed look and they always seem to shrink after dry cleaning so it helps there. You can shop all of my favorite finds on my Amazon shop! The rod was custom made but here's my other favorite we use all the time with these rings. French return rods with rings are the best. You can use these drapery pins to connect your panels to the rings and they will look more professionally done. Hang your rod as high as you can (especially in our case with only 8 ft ceilings) to draw your eye up and give the illusion of taller ceilings.

The fun woven chair in the corner was actually brown before but I also had it lacquered Tricorn Black like the chest. The sweet blush tassels pillow was another Serena and Lily find that added some softness to the space. I like having a chair for guests to put their things on or it's a nice spot to stack guest towels.

The woven basket on legs is one of my favorite planters form our shop-it comes in three sizes which actually look great when paired all together. I used our small faux fiddle leaf tree in this guy because I knew a real one would never get enough sun to stay alive:)

Now let's get to the good stuff...the bedding! By far the most important thing you will put in a bedroom-especially when you are entertaining guests. I feel like my guest bedding should be just as good as my own. I want my guests to feel like it's a treat to stay here and who doesn't love good bedding? You know that feeling when you get into bed with freshly laundered sheets and it gives you that overwhelming feeling of cozy? That's exactly how I want my guests to feel at my home! The bedding is the key and Serena and Lily has got you covered. The quality of their products is the best I've seen. I always gravitate towards linen. I think because we are in south and and I just love the relaxed look of it. I also love white bedding only. It's clean, crisp and cool. All the things I want my bed to be. I chose the white linen sheet set for our guests paired with the white cotton sateen duvet. To add a little color I chose the blush linen pillow shams and quilt to keep at the end of the bed for cooler nights. I topped it off with a custom pillow in a Kelly Wearstler fabric to add some contrast and a modern element to the space.

So that's everything you need to pull together your own guest room makeover! Thank you to Serena and Lily for sponsoring this post and hosting such a fabulous sale. You'll find more photos on my Instagram and you can always shop my posts here.

Happy Hosting!

Xx,

Megan
