I had the amazing opportunity this month to visit The HGTV Dream Home 2020 with Belgard on the beautiful Hilton Head Island. It was truly an experience I will never forget! I met some wonderful people, toured this gorgeous island and enjoyed some delicious cuisine all while learning about Belgard outdoor products and how they were used at this year's HGTV Dream Home-here are some of my highlights from the trip!
We started the day checking out a local Belgard outdoor products supplier to get a closer look at some of the materials that are used most often in the surrounding coastal areas including pavers, fire pits and outdoor kitchens. This was really informative for me given that I'm such a big advocate of indoor/outdoor living especially because I'm based in Charleston where the exterior design is just as important as the interior! I loved seeing all the different collections available to give your home a more coastal or modern vibe-depending on the design aesthetic. We also got to take a virtual tour of this year's HGTV Dream Home in 4D-through these really cool glasses. I was clearly blown away by this experience and thought this would definitely be something my clients would love to see when we design their outdoor spaces.
After a beautiful boat ride and lunch we headed over to The HGTV Dream Home 2020. Walking up to this year's HGTV Dream Home really was like a dream-the most perfect Belgard pavers lined the driveway to the precious porch lined with rockers ready for it's next guests-we couldn't wait to start the tour! We started with the exterior and headed to the back of the home for a closer look at the pool and gorgeous view of the marsh.
I have to admit-the back yard and pool was my absolute favorite part of the entire home! It was just so perfectly done. Every detail was very thought out.I I loved that Belgard installed turf that was pre cut for the pavers-making it easy for installation. Turf is such a great alternative to grass in our area especially surrounding a pool and with our unpleasant sandy soil that makes grass growing so difficult! Now I know we can offer this option to our clients from Belgard and I know they will love the low maintenance lifestyle and beauty it provides. Now look at this incredible outdoor space!
The other feature I really loved was the fire pit. This is such a fun outdoor element to have in the south as you can enjoy them all year long! Belgard makes it super easy building these to be ready made to just drop in to your space. We were able to enjoy this huge fire pit after dinner-roasting marsh mellows and making smores. This definitely made me want one for my own home to enjoy with friends and kids!
Now that you have seen this incredible outdoor space let me give you a little glimpse of the interior-designed by one of my all time favorites Brian Patrick Flynn. I LOVE that he was able to use all Wayfair products for the design and also incorporated works from local artists. Working with local makers is also something I strive to do on every project. Brian showed that you can create something amazing using pieces from all different price points. The creativity and curation really was inspiring...take a look at some of the photos I snapped on my phone while touring this year's HGTV Dream Home!
