In the lowcountry outdoor living is extremely important. I work to create spaces outdoors my clients will enjoy throughout the seasons as well as in our own home. When my husband, Hugh and I found our home with a large back porch overlooking the marsh we were thrilled. After some time dreaming up this outdoor space I decided to create two areas. One being an outdoor dining area where we can entertain and have meals as a family. I chose the Rectangular Farm Extension Table by Summer Classics. This natural teak table extends to 119″ and seats 10. We opted for a smaller table in our open kitchen and have used this outdoor table for dinner parties with larger groups. The second area serves as more of an informal living space. I am in love with the Havana Lounge Chairs by Summer Classics with their classic open-cane weaving and weather resistant cushions. Opposite the chairs I added the Bali Teak Sofa by Summer Classics. I picked the Midnight Linen Upholstery as I have incorporated hints of black throughout the space. We enjoy spending afternoons relaxing on our screened porch & having a meals in this special space.
The Havana Lounge Chairs first caught my eye due to their cane weaving and black aluminum frame. I love the mix of a classic design with modern details. The curved silhouette is so unique and fun. The weather resistant white cushions are so comfortable and easy to clean which is so important when choosing outdoor furniture.
To compliment the chairs, I added fun lumbar pillows by local textile designer, Emily Daws Textiles. I placed the chairs on either side of simple white accent table and added a black knit pouf in front of each chair to serve as a coffee table. I added a natural tray with some fun plants and planters to liven up the space. The Terra-Cotta White Dots Planter is a pop of fun alongside the Monstera Leafs from the shop paired with a simple white vase. I love incorporating real and faux plants around my home ~ even on the porch!
Great planters are such a neat way to elevate an outdoor space. I also love having a couple lanterns with faux candles to turn on in the evening.
Opposite the chairs is the Bali Teak Sofa with midnight linen upholstery. I also paired this piece with fun palm pillows by Emily Daws Textiles. I decided to go with the natural teak finish. I love the look of the lighter wood against the dark fabric plus the darker fabric is a game changer for outdoor seating. This sofa is the perfect combination of study and soft. I placed the sofa on our outdoor rug to create a the feel of a living space outside. We spend a ton of time out here hanging out and relaxing in the warmer months!
The other side of our screened porch is used as a dining space. I am in love with Summer Classic's Rectangular Farm Extension Table. I chose the natural teak finish to match the sofa. The table is simple yet superior in quality and style. It is weather resistant and durable which is great for outdoor dining. Most nights, Hugh and I find ourselves eating dinner at this table. I also love that fully extended, the table is 119" and seats 10 which is great for entertaining guests. I paired the table with wicker dining chairs which I painted black for a more modern look. Above both the outdoor living and dining areas we added ceiling fans by Fanimation as in Charleston we all know the summers are HOT.
Charleston is known for it porches and outdoor living. I am a big believer in maximizing your outdoor spaces and treating them like any other area of the home. Summer Classics has beautiful pieces which are of the highest quality-both stylish and sustainable for your home.
