Carly Bell Hair was one of my very first projects! It is so fun to look back at these designs for inspiration. I love working on commercial projects as they vary in function and style from the needs of residential clients. Salons are special to the Megan Molten team as we have completed quite a few projects in the beauty industry. This project is especially special to me as Carly has been my stylist for years and is the BEST at balayage color ~ you heard it here first! When Carly told me she was starting her very own business/salon and wanted me to design it I was over the moon! She wanted it to be very beachy /boho-reflecting her personal style as well as her favorite hair style look for her girls ~ She's known for her painted on highlights and loose waves she gives her clients:) Check out her amazing salon on Instagram @carlybellhair!
For me, the best part of design is the beginning and the end of projects. I love meeting with clients, having the initial walk through and dreaming about what we can create in the space. We make presentation boards to showcase how each item will work together and help our clients to really visualize the design.
Carly Bell Salon is located in a renovated building downtown Charleston. The space has large windows, exposed brick and dark wood flooring. The salon immediately had lots of potential but Carly was in need of a style of her own. We played off of her boho chic feel with neutrals, textured rattan chairs and woven baskets, palm wallpaper and a plant wall.
The use of succulents on the plant wall next to the bright windows creates an always fresh look in the salon. I am in love with the rattan chairs we paired with a sheepskin throw.
We brought in natural wood shelving and a custom wooden coffee bar to complete the look.
We added in baskets, trays, jars, candles, planters and decorative accessories for styling. Check out the shop for items we use in our designs.
