Traditional Reinvented

We loved working on this beautiful home bringing modern elements to the family's traditional style. This home had everything to work with, a grand entry, bright dining room and living room with tall ceilings. We wanted to bring in bright, fun furnishings, artwork and decorative accents to add a more casual coastal feel while incorporating some of the family's treasured pieces such as an antique dining table.

I am a big believer in using pieces that feel meaningful to the family but adding a twist to give it a fresh new feel! Our clients wanted to keep the traditional look using an heirloom wooden dining table. We were able to refresh the room by pairing the table with white linen dining chairs. We added soft curtains and bright artwork and accessories to further contrast the dark table. In the living room, our clients kept their beloved sofa. We added pillows, a new coffee table, console table, artwork, rug and swivel chairs to finish the space and create a whole new look. Maybe the most impactful change to the living room was the lighting! We swapped the old fan for a stunning large orb beaded chandelier which is truly a showstopper!

Other areas we updated in this project were the entry and powder room. Entryways are an important part of the overall design of a home as it is the first impression when you walk in through the front door. I love to incorporate a great piece of artwork over a styled console for an immediate WOW factor. In this space we also styled a circular table at the base of the stairs with faux greenery (for an always styled look), coffee table books and decorative accessories. In the powder room we added our favorite Serena and Lily palm wallpaper for personality that pops!

The Megan Molten design team works hard to source the perfect items for each space. We create presentation boards to share with our clients to help them visualize how all of the aspects of the design will work together. Our boards break down all the selections including furnishings, wallpaper, rugs, lighting and accessories. Presenting the presentation boards to our clients gives us the opportunity to make any necessary adjustments prior to ordering, warehousing and installing the final design.

While our design team sources furnishings, lighting, wall coverings, rugs, plumbing fixtures, mirrors, etc from a variety of vendors we love, we also incorporate many items available on the Megan Molten shop! You can create looks from our designs at home by following our "shop the look" guides!

I have spent lots of time curating our shop to include everything from my favorite accessories, kitchen items, mirrors, vintage rugs, lighting, artwork, furnishings and so much more! I love that we are able to bring the Megan Molten look to so many homes through our shop customers. If you love the look of this project check out the guides below to see how to recreate this feel in your own home.

We styled the entryway table with the Round Glass Bottle Vase full of faux greenery, our Camellia Branches. This ensures the home will alway feels freshly styled and requires no upkeep or maintenance. We paired the vase with the Rhodes Decorative Box stacked over two coffee table books. Lastly we styled an obelisk similar to our Reclaimed Wood Obelisk to finish out the table. A good rule of thumb when styling a circular table is groupings of three.

We love a statement piece as soon as you walk into a home. Lemon Drop by artist, Katherine Freeman is an all time favorite for something coastal yet a bit playful. Spicing up the entryway is important as it is the first impression your guest will have of your home. I love the look of a woven console similar to the Holly Console Table paired with our glossy white Noisette Lamps. We love to use a console to display a beautiful ceramic bowl with our Wood Welcome Beads over some books as well as a pair of frames. Finish the look with two of our Deanna Ottomans stowed under an open console.

The living room is often the most used space in a home for a family and needs to be both fabulous and functional. We loved the high ceilings of this space and wanted to add in a chandelier that was sure to sparkle! The Beaded Orb Chandelier is both elegant and so much fun. Another element of this space was the long wall with high windows ~ the perfect placement for a large piece of artwork. We incorporated the clients existing sofa and gave it a fresh look with some colorful pillows. We added the Dewees natural fiber rug to ground the space and added two of our favorite Hugh Swivel Chairs. I am in love with the Claire Coffee Table which is the perfect round shape to keep the proper flow of the living room.

We styled the coffee table in groups of three ~ a Phalaenopsis Orchid Drop-In in a White Bowl with Gold Base, a Marble & Brass Inlay Box (the perfect place to stow away remote controls and lighters for candles) stacked on top of coffee table books, and lastly a Gold & Mirror Tray complete with a Megan Molten Candle and White Marble Chain.

Whenever there is an opportunity to add storage to a living room we are sure to take it! Adding a cabinet (check out our Macon Cabinet) to store games, toys, blankets, whatever the family may need to have easy access to is a must. We added the Belle Mirror to open up the space and framed it with the Paulina Lamp and tall Artsi Vase with faux palms. We added a bowl over some books as well as a pair of our most popular frames to finish the look!

Our clients wanted a traditional yet modernized look for their space. When working with a darker wooden table, bringing in fresh and airy fabrics and colors will lift the overall mood! We incorporated our White Linen Dining Chairs and wow did it make the entire room look brand new! We love to style dining room tables with a pretty bowl and vase full of real or faux palms. To liven up the walls we added this soft yet stunning piece, Pastel Palms by local artist, Danielle Cather Cohen.
