The Oyster Point II project was a one room makeover which transformed the living space for the entire family to enjoy! Our clients are a growing family with pets and needed a space that would be both beautiful and durable. The first floor of the home is an open floor plan with an entry way, dining room, kitchen and living room all open to each other. The living room was in need of an update to fit the bright and airy feel of the home. We used soft neutrals, pastel linens and artwork to bring the Megan Molten look to the room.
Our clients previously had a large brown sectional which took up most of the room and closed the space off to the rest of the home. We wanted to establish the living room while maximizing the space. When working on a project, we first create a floor plan which lays out where the furniture will be placed. We decided to have two sofas facing each other with an ottoman in the center, a great option for families with small children. We placed matching nesting tables next to each sofa. We also placed two occasional chairs facing the room. On either side of the fireplace we opted for a faux plant and two baskets to hold extra blankets, toys and objects the family wants to stow away.
Once we have the floor plan identified we begin working on presentation boards. These boards break down all of the selections including furniture, lighting, fans, rugs, artwork, accessories, pillows and more. Presentation boards help our clients to visualize the items together in the space and make any adjustments necessary before ordering.
I love taking a look back at before & after photos. The Oyster Park II project is incredible because we were able to make such an impact on a highly used space in this families home while focusing on one area of the home. Check out the before and after photos below to see for yourself this amazing transformation!
In this project we used a lot of my favorite items available for you on the Megan Molten Shop! We chose the Courtney Sofa with a bench seat in a performance fabric to help with durability and upkeep with children and pets. We paired the sofas with Reclaimed Side Table Sets crafted of reclaimed pine with a light white wash finish. We topped the side tables with our beautiful white ceramic lamps, the Cassique Lamp. Pro-tip: place the cord of your lamps under the sofa with an extension cord to hide wiring and reach the closest outlet.
We added in some colorful artwork for pops of blues and pinks. Squeeze 1 and Squeeze 2 are printed watercolors matted on raw linen canvas in modern clear acrylic frame. On the opposite wall we chose Summers Sunset, a printed canvas which comes matted in a silver frame. I love these pieces so much we brought them to the shop for everyone to enjoy!
Lastly we styled the coffee table with a woven tray topped with coffee table books, a wood hand-carved beed strand with decorative heart, and a candle. We also included a white decorative stingray tray completed with our large Tobago Vase. Decorative accessories are the extra layer that create dimension and personality to finish a room.
